Hello,
I am the author of the installer. PHP5 is not stable enough for production windows use yet as of today, from my testing. This is because PHP5 accelerators/opcode caches do not work well on windows under heavy loads. As long as it is not stable for my needs I won't release a version.
As for php4, I use php 4.3.10 and have no intent to upgrade to php 4.4.
I don't feel the project is dead, as I will release a 5.1 version when things stabilize. Unfortunately, my initial optimism was misplaced, and possibly might have to wait 6-12 months before i am confident enough about 5.1 or 5.2 to embark on a new release. |

I have followed this PHP installer for some time, and I for one value stability over the latest and greatest.

Hi John,
Just wondering if it would be possible to write a brief article on your site about this? Have you done any testing with APC? |
